🌱 Grow to Share: Church Community Gardens
The Grow to Share project has continued to flourish this winter, with exciting developments across our network of church community spaces.
Working bee at St. Peter Chanel Church
In Clover Park, Manukau, additional garden boxes were installed at St. Peter Chanel, inviting new gardeners into the space and expanding the reach of the Grow to Share kaupapa. Each new bed brings not only fresh produce but also shared stories, skills, and stronger community connections.
Out West in Henderson, Seed 2 Harvest hosted a creative working bee, constructing beautiful growing arches to introduce vertical growing space. These arches are a smart and visually striking way to increase yield and optimise limited garden areas.
In Favona, Māngere, the Free Church of Tonga is actively weaving together old and new garden plans, incorporating compost systems, fruit trees, herbs, and edible gardens into a refreshed and culturally grounded design. This work reflects a deep commitment to kaitiakitanga and holistic well-being.
Together, these church community gardens are growing more than just kai — they’re nurturing resilience, relationships, and a shared sense of purpose.
